Welcome to Walsingham Academy Upper School Curriculum Maps.
We believe that teachers can no longer work in isolation of one
another. Education and the world today demand that we be
reflective in our practices and work collaboratively toward a
shared purpose. We have chosen to engage in the curriculum
mapping process as a vehicle to communicate to teachers, parents
and students a clearly articulated curriculum across grade
levels and subject content.
The maps are not intended to be lesson plan documents. Rather,
they serve as a framework for discussions about student learning
and teaching practices. They are a guide for sharing the
essential learning and skills we expect our students to know and
be able to do.
Curriculum development is an "unfinished journey". It evolves to
keep pace with the changing and diverse needs of our students
and events of the times. As you view the curriculum maps, it is
important to know they are fluid documents that reflect change.
These maps represent a point in time. They differ in levels of
completeness, scope and detail. Teachers will be routinely
reviewing, refining and rearranging the information on them to
best serve our students.
We are proud of the work we have done and welcome the
opportunity to provide these maps for your review. If you have
questions or comments, please contact any of the faculty or
staff at Walsingham Academy Upper School.
